Call Waiting helps:

Avoid
interruptions _ Single line residential and business customers with
Call Waiting Terminating service can prevent interruptions when
using the telephone line to connect to a modem, remote computer or
fax machine.
Ø
Manage
calls _ Many families and businesses have Call Waiting because
they don't want to miss calls. Yet
there are some calls that they don't want interrupted.
With Cancel Call Waiting service, they can cancel Call
Waiting service on a call by call basis giving them greater control.
Ø
Improve
customer service _ Cancel Call Waiting lets you provide better
customer service by allowing you to focus on your current call
without being distracted with other calls.
Customers with either touchtone or
rotary service can subscribe to Cancel Call Waiting. Cancel Call
Waiting service is activated on a call by call basis. Callers will
hear a busy signal when calling a number that has Cancel Call
Waiting activated. If you hang up after dialing the access code but
before dialing the telephone number, Cancel Call Waiting is not
activated. Cancel Call Waiting does not affect Call Waiting
Terminating service for the other party (i.e., if the number you are
calling has Call Waiting Terminating service, that line will still
receive Call Waiting tones indicating incoming calls). If Call
Forwarding Busy Line is activated on your line, calls which would
normally go through and cause a Call Waiting tone on your line, will
instead be forwarded to the number you have set-up for
Call Forwarding Busy Line.
Before Placing a Call:
1.
Lift the receiver and listen for dial tone.
2.
Dial *70 (1170 on a rotary dial telephone).
3.
Listen for three short tones and dial tone.
4.
Dial the telephone number of the party you wish to call.
5.
Talk with the party.
6.
Hang up the receiver. Call
Waiting Terminating service is activated again for subsequent calls.
During a Call:
(This requires
Three-Way
Calling or another switch hook service.)
1.
While on a call, quickly press and release the switch hook.
2.
Listen for dial tone.
3.
Dial *70 (1170 on a rotary dial telephone).
4.
Listen for three short tones.
(This confirms that you have canceled Call Waiting
Terminating for this call.)
5.
You will automatically be reconnected to the existing call.
