IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT 10 DIGIT DIALING
FOR DIAL-UP CUSTOMERS LOCATED IN THE 601
AREA CODE:

Effective March 14, 2005, Mississippi will receive its fourth area code, 769. This area code will bring ten-digit dialing to the 601 area code region.

The new area code will overlay the existing 601 area code region.  Therefore, on March 14, 2005, ten-digit dialing will be required to complete all local or expanded local calls, including internet calls.

If you are currently in the 601 area code region, you will need to reprogram your local dial-up connections to include ten-digit dialing by adding 601 in the area code field of your dialer software. 

We encourage all customers in the 601 area code to make this change effective immediately to avoid any interruption in your internet dialing.

Pricing:

Beginning 7/1/04, Georgetown Telephone Company’s pricing for all dial-up accounts will be $21.95 per month for 300 hours of access, and an additional $6.95 for all usage exceeding 300 hours.  One email box will be supplied with this account; additional email boxes will be charged at $2.50 per month.

For all billing, account additions or cancellations, or general inquires, Georgetown customers will contact the Georgetown Telephone office at 601-858-2211.  Office hours are 9:30 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday.

For technical support, please contact 601-858-2500; office hours for technical support will be Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 10 PM, and Saturday, 9 AM to 4 PM.

No Technical Changes Necessary (Access Number and Email Address)

On 7/1/04, Georgetown customers will continue to dial the local access number 601-858-6388 to access the Internet, utilizing the same existing user name and password.  Your email address, username@telepak.net, using the mail server of mail.telepak.net will also remain the same.   No changes are necessary to continue to access your Internet dial-up and email account.

NOTE:  Georgetown Telephone Company customers will also be able to use as their email address, username@gtlco.com, as well as username@telepak.net.  If you decide to change your email address, email sent to your current username@telepak.net email address will be automatically forwarded to your new email address.  More information concerning this feature will be forthcoming.
